“Sacha!” I hear Roisin’s voice before I see her, just as an extremely large fluffy dog legs it towards the gate I am opening. I recognise him instantly from Instagram and TikTok. This is Sacha and although he looks like a small horse with extra fur, he is in fact a Borzoi. I am soon joined by another sighthound. A much smaller one. Black and wire-haired who instantly begins barking at me.
Roisin comes barrelling around the corner, her handmade canvas brown dungarees and practical boots perfect for the task of running around after two sighthounds. She is bright and smiley and happy to see me. We begin chatting all things sighthounds as she guides me through into the garden and I instantly see why Roisin has managed to amass almost 50,000 followers across her social media channels. Roisin’s personality is magnetic. Talking at 100 miles an hour, her passion for life just exudes out of her.
I am at the headquarters and garden for Verde Flower Company. A sustainable and natural flower company based in County Durham. Set in a 150-year-old Victorian walled garden, the red brick walls rising up around the plot, and many of the flowers in full summer bloom.
