I Wrote A Book!
And you can preorder it now...
‘For many of us, the modern world is overwhelming. Fast-paced. Hard-edged. Exhausting. People are craving more peace. It's no wonder we have seen the social media trend of returning to traditional skills and ways of life. People are craving change. A return to simple and peaceful living. But could this be more than a pretty aesthetic? Is there more connection to be found in living a handmade, homegrown and slow life?
In A YEAR TO SLOW DOWN Rachel Bearn shares her own experience of how reducing her pace helped her begin to heal from severe chronic illness and connect deeper with her faith. Over twelve months she shares the benefits of living slowly, quietly and in the present moment, dependent on God and God alone - as he always intended for us.
This is a practical guidebook that takes readers through the four seasons of the year, incorporating the festivals and celebrations that have punctuated the Christian calendar for generations and encouraging you to live seasonally and in the moment.’
I’m not going to lie guys - this is surreal. It has been my dream to write a book and work as an author for as long as I can remember. Ever since I became an avid reader as a very little girl I have known I wanted to do it. And now, here I am sharing my book with you all!
A YEAR TO SLOW DOWN is basically everything I have learnt over the last seven years of being ill. I share honest insight into the realities of becoming severely unwell in my mid 20s. I share about my faith and how it is the thing that got me through. And I share how living a handmade, homegrown and slow life can help you to live your very best life. To help you connect with God and faith and to keep you grounded in the beautiful simplicity of the everyday.
I haven’t written it because I am perfect and know exactly what I am doing. Far from it! I have written it because it is the book I wish I’d had when I was ill. We live in a world of more and more - constant business, change and noise. This book offers something else. It is based on one of my favourite bible verses “and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.” 1 Thessalonians 4:11. A reminder that slow, simple and peaceful living, although counter cultural, is worthy.
I have also created a YouTube video where I answer some of the questions people have asked me about the book, publishing and writing process so do go and check that out for more details. For now I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all who have supported my work over the years. None of this would have happened without you guys. And I hope this book will help anyone struggling with the noise of this world.

Rachel x
