Today is a rather exciting day! I am releasing my first ever garment knitting pattern into the world. So let me tell you a little bit about it…
The Amy March Sweater is inspired by the character of Amy March from the classic book Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. When I first started designing this sweater, I was taking inspiration from Edwardian style blouses with lace panels and ruffles. I wanted something romantic, elegant and with a real vintage vibe to it. I feel like it is something a modern-day Amy March would wear to go and sketch in the woods, and I hope both knitting and wearing it will bring you a lot of joy. As Louisa May Alcott said, “The power of finding beauty in the humblest things makes home happy and life lovely.”
The Amy March Sweater is knit flat in pieces and then seamed together using mattress stitch. The collar is attached using the circular needles and knitted in the round. The ruffles are knit flat back and forth but circular needles are needed to cope with the circular shape of the knitting.
I have created a video over on my YouTube channel chatting all about the pattern, how I came up with the idea and also modelling the sweater so you can get a really good look at how it wears. You can watch this over here.
I have put an awful lot of work and effort into this sweater and I hope you will love it just as much as I do. It would mean the world to me if you purchased a copy, added it to your Ravelry wish list or just shared it over on social media. Thank you for always being so supportive of my work. Happy knitting!
Looks beautiful, and the photos are great xx
Oh goodness, this is so pretty. I'm a huge fan of the Little Women books and of knitting in general. What a fabulous cross over.
